Well,
first thing's first, What exactly is green tea anyway?
Green
tea was first discovered by the Chinese whom have
known about its health benefits since ancient times. They
used green
tea to treat their headaches, to their depression.
But,
how can we use green tea in this day and age? Does it
still work? Well, we put these questions to the test and
found out several core facts about how green tea works.
The main power of green tea lies in the fact that it is
full of an anit-oxidant called catechin polyphenols,
particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).
We
were amazed at what this powerful little inti-oxidant has
been known to do. It not only inhibits the growth of
cancer cells, but it will also KILL cancer cells without
harming healthy tissue. Talk about a powerful little
drink, eh? :-)
Green
Tea is also effective in lowering cholesterol
levels, and protecting against blood clots. The fact that
Green Tea will aid in protecting against blood clotting is
clearly a major benefit, considering the leading cause of
heart attacks is stroke... which is essentially the
clogging of the arteries.
Green
Tea Aids In Weight Loss!
Recently
new facts have emerged, and our tests have been conclusive
in seeing that green
tea will even help dieters! A study done by the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition released the
results of a study at the University of Geneva in
Switzerland, which found that men who were given a
combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned FAR
MORE calories than those given only caffeine or a
placebo. That in itself should be an eye opener to you. It
sure was to us.
People
normally burn around 150 calories per mile on a treadmill.
Now, imagine drinking a glass of green tea before you hop
of the treadmill. Walk 1 mile and burn twice that. 300
calories!
There
are many other benefits of green
tea, but I won't go into great detail here. Drinking
green tea will help the following medical conditions:
- cancer
- rheumatoid
arthritis
- high
cholesterol levels
- cariovascular
disease
- infection
- impaired
immune function
With
all these good things said about green tea, there has got
to be a drawback, right? The only drawback which green tea
may cause in a rare few is insomnia, due to the fact that
it contains caffeine... BUT you'll be glad to know that it
contains less caffiene that coffee.
So...
does Green Tea live up to all of its hype? After our
review, we give it 3 thumbs up. I know I'll be
adding it to my daily menu and I urge you to do the same.
We've
found a website that is currently offering a free 30 day
supply of green tea, but we're not sure how long this will
last... so I'd suggest going there now and signing up for
a free supply as soon as possible. Oh, and Green Tea was
recently discussed on the Oprah show!
